A few weekends ago, the meteorologists were calling for a potentially crippling ice storm to hit our area. The ice could cause power outages that would last for days. In the Old Testament, there was an animal called the scapegoat. This is recorded in Leviticus chapter 16. Aaron the priest would lay his hands on the head of this goat and confess the iniquities, transgressions, and sins of the people of Israel. Then the goat was let go in the wilderness. In Luke 17:12-19, we read how Jesus mercifully healed ten men who were lepers. Back in those days, lepers were outcasts of society. Can any of us say that we have never changed? No. The human existence is a series of growth, change, and maturity. We start as an infant and grow into an adult. We learn new things and gain wisdom. God, our Creator, is the One Who does not change. The Bible says in Malachi 3:6, " For I am the Lord, I change not..." God is an eternal being. He does not gain more wisdom as He goes. In the wee hours of the morning, a young mother is about to deliver her first child, but something is wrong.
