Prepare for Rain

Our state has been in the worse drought in several years this year. Low rain totals have called for water restrictions. Prolonged drought can cause famine and make life much harder. We need to pray that God will send much needed rain to our thirsty earth.

This can also be applied spiritually. When we are refreshed in our spirit and washed by the water of the Word, we feel good. Sometimes, though, we walk through dry seasons. During those times, we long to feel God's presence just once more. We need to pray also for God to send the rain of the Holy Spirit to water our lives.

There is a movie titled "Facing the Giants." In the movie, a man of God is encouraging a football coach who is struggling. The man of God says, "...I heard a story about two farmers who desperately needed rain, and both of them prayed for rain, but only one of them went out and prepared his fields to receive it. Which one do you think trusted God to send the rain? Which one are you? God will send the rain when He's ready. You need to prepare your field to receive it."

Prepare for God to do something great in your life. Pray and ask God to renew your spirit. David cried in Psalm 51, "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." Pray for God's guidance. Pray for God to strengthen you. Pray for God's will to be done in your life. Pray for God to fill you with His Holy Spirit. The promise of the Holy Ghost was promised by Jesus Himself and echoed by Peter in Acts 2:38.

For certain things to take place, fasting may also be required. For example, a man brought his epileptic son to Jesus' disciples. The disciples were not able to cast out the devil that was tormenting the child. The disciples wanted to know what went wrong. We read in Matthew 17:19-21, "Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."

Prayer, fasting, repenting, worshiping the Lord, and reading His Word are all ways that you can prepare for a move of God in your life. Keep your faith in God and His Word. Keep your heart tender towards God. Surrender all that you are to Him. Put your life in God's capable Hands. James 4:8 encourages, " Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."

Earlier, I mentioned that water restrictions come as a result of drought. The great news is, there are no water restrictions with God's rain. He never runs out of His Holy Spirit. He is the creator of heaven and earth. He "is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20).

Prepare for rain!!!
