Bloom Where You Are Planted

Have you ever been driving down an interstate highway and, all of a sudden, you see a beautiful field of flowers growing right in the median of the highway? Those seeds were planted there to beautify that empty space on the highway. The seeds do not care where they are planted. If they get enough sunlight and water, the seeds will sprout and grow into beautiful flowers that can be enjoyed by all who drive by.
Your life may feel as empty as the median was before the flowers were planted. It may feel sparse and bare. It may even feel dry. You may wonder if God is even near you anymore. You have not felt His presence or heard His voice in so long. You may feel that what you are doing is futile and unimportant. At work, you do the same things over and over again, and no one shows any appreciation. Maybe you feel a pull to do something more to really make a difference, but you do not know how to pursue that longing.
It is okay to have those feelings. You are human. As such, you have hopes and dreams for your life. Some of those dreams may be part of God's plan for your life, and others may not. I know I've had my share of disappointments. When I wanted to do something and God said "No," I just had to trust that He was in control. After all, He knows the end from the beginning. If He wanted me to go in a certain direction, He would have made the way for me to go, but instead, He said, "No." Apparently, He wants me to stay where I am currently planted.
If given the right conditions, flowers can bloom in many different types of locations. God has you where He wants you at this very moment, so don't just be stuck in the mud, BLOOM! Be like the flower and beautify the space that you are in. Fill it up with kindness, gentleness, meekness, and much love! Let the space you are in be better because you are there. Bring positivity and brightness to a world of negativity and darkness. Bring encouragement to the downtrodden. Bring cheer to a place of despair. Bring the Word of God to hearts that are hurting.
Do not get weary in the place where you are planted. Take one day at a time. Ask God each day to help you be a blessing to someone else. Maybe if you bloom, it will encourage others to bloom around you. What a beautiful sight to behold a field of freshly bloomed flowers glistening in the SONlight!!!
Just as seeds need sunlight and water to grow, we need the water of God's Word, and we need to spend time in the presence of the Son. Keep growing closer to God. If you draw near to Him, He will draw nigh to you. Abide in Christ and He will make you fruitful.
Bloom, bloom, bloom!
