"I Sought the Lord, and He heard, and He answered"

In a camp meeting service the other night, I heard the song "Trust in God." There is a line in that song that says, "I sought the Lord, and He heard, and He answered." I felt the Holy Spirit ministering to me as this was being sung. It was like God was reassuring me. My prayers are being heard, and God will act on my behalf.

Jesus Himself encourages us to seek. In Matthew 7:7-8, Jesus said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." I love how positive these verses are. Not may be opened but SHALL be opened.

When should we seek the Lord? 1 Chronicles 16:11 says, “Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His face continually.” Proverbs 8:17 assures, “I love them that love Me; and those that seek Me early shall find Me." Isaiah 55:6 reads, “Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near.”

How should we seek God? We should seek Him with our whole heart. Deuteronomy 4:29 declares, “But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find Him, if thou seek Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.” Jeremiah 29:13 reads, “And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.” We should also seek God through humility. 2 Chronicles 7:14 assures, “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” We should also seek God with thanksgiving in our hearts. Philippians 4:6 encourages, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."

Sometimes we seek God and seem to hear no answer. It is then that we get discouraged or even feel forsaken. Just keep praying and seeking. Psalm 9:10 says, “And they that know Thy name will put their trust in Thee: for Thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee.”

God can bring deliverance in our lives when we seek Him. In Psalm 34:4, David wrote, “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. "

God meets the needs of those who seek Him. Psalm 34:10 asserts, “The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.”

God blesses those that seek Him. Psalm 119:2 declares, “Blessed are they that keep His testimonies, and that seek Him with the whole heart.”

Understanding is given to those that seek God. Proverbs 28:5 says, “Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lord understand all things.”

Just keep asking, seeking, and knocking. God hears you. He will take care of you. Trust His timing. He knows the end from the beginning. He is in control of all things. Let Him be the pilot of your life. I've read a saying that goes, "God is still writing your story, stop trying to steal the pen." In other words, "Let go and let God have His wonderful way." Do your part and seek God, and trust Him to do the rest.
