Your Ways Are Higher Than Mine

Have you ever wondered why you had to go through so many things in your life? Maybe you have had countless disappointments, heartaches, and trials that you have had to face. Isaiah 55:8-9 reads, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." The Bible also says in Psalm 37:23, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way." We may not understand why we go through certain things, but God's ways are higher than ours and He is in control of our lives. He is ordering our steps, and He is always with us. When all you feel is cutting and discomfort, the Potter sees the grand design that He has planned for your life. Let's read about some people in the Bible who also experienced God's ways being higher than their ways in their own lives.

God took Joseph from prison to the palace. Joseph, through no fault of his own, had been jailed. He was in prison for a while. Due to God helping him interpret dreams, Joseph was exalted to Pharoah's right hand. Joseph became the second in command of all the land of Egypt.

God turned a murderer into a martyr. Saul was a religious man who was devoted to destroying all of the Christians he could. One day, on the road to Damascus, everything changed. Saul met Jesus. He was transformed into the apostle Paul. As a follower of Christ, Saul suffered many beatings and hardships. He eventually was martyred. He died for the very Christ he used to be against.

God turned a denier into a testifier. Peter had told Jesus that he would never deny Him. When the pressure was on, Peter denied Jesus three times. After Jesus arose, He asked Peter if he loved Him three times. Peter affirmed his love for the Lord. After being filled with the Holy Ghost on the Day of Pentecost, Peter boldly told the crowd what had happened and how they could be saved. Instead of denying, Peter testified of Jesus Christ.

God can take your story and use it for His glory! Just keep walking by faith and trusting in God's sovereignty over your life. Remember that God is ordering your steps. Psalm 37:31 says, "The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide." Nothing you are going through has taken God by surprise. God remains the same, whether you are in the lowest valley or on a beautiful mountaintop. God will see you through!
