Trust

Have you ever seen someone do a trust fall? That is when you fall backwards and trust that your friend standing behind you will catch you. This has been used in team building exercises to build trust among co-workers. What exactly is trust? Webster defines trust as, "assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something."

If someone has proven that they are trust-worthy, you can have confidence in that person. You know they will get the job done, keep their word, etc.

Based on His "character, ability, and strength," we can definitely find Jesus Christ as worthy of our trust.

If we trust the Lord, He will direct us. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths."

We are blessed if we trust in God. The psalmist declares in Psalm 40:4, "Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!"

Thinking on God and trusting in Him can bring peace. Isaiah 26: 3-4 says, "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock." Psalm 56: 3-4 states, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

Trusting in God can move Him to act on our behalf. Psalm 37:5 declares, "Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass."

In this country, we have reminders to trust God when we look around us. Our coins have an inscription that says, "In God we trust." Some of the license plates on vehicles also have the motto, "In God we trust."

Even by looking at nature, we should trust God. He makes the sun rise faithfully every morning and all the stars to twinkle at night. He keeps the oceans rising and falling with the tides. He changes the seasons. He created all of the animals and the mountains. He created us. If God can do all of that, surely, He can be trusted to take care of our problems!

Do not be discouraged, keep trusting in our faithful God!
