Through Heaven's Eyes

Do you ever feel like an absolute failure? Maybe it seems that no matter how much effort you put into things, it's never good enough. I have definitely felt that way on my job. High expectations from the central office led to much stress and I felt that more and more work was being put on me. I felt that no matter what I did, it was never going to be good enough. God helped me to persevere through those times. The high standards actually pressed me to work harder and I got better results. All glory to God!

Feeling like a failure is nothing new to the human existence. There were people in the Bible who experienced this same feeling of not being good enough. How about Adam after he had sinned in the Garden of Eden and was hiding from God in his covering of fig leaves? Imagine how Peter felt when he denied Jesus, not once, but three times. He probably felt like a failure as he ran away weeping that he had let Jesus down. No matter their failures, God still had a divine plan for their lives.

The point is, no matter what is going on in your life, you do not have to feel like a failure. Quit looking at yourself through your eyes and start looking at yourself through heaven's eyes.

God has already given you everything that you need to make it through this life's journey, so how can you fail? He gave us what is needed to overcome the devil, and that is God's Word. Isaiah 40:8 assures us, "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever." God's Word will always endure, and it is the Truth.

So what does God say about you? If you have accepted Him into your heart, He says that you are His child. John 1:12 bears witness to this by proclaiming, " But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:" You are the child of an omnipotent Father!

God also says that you are chosen, holy, and blameless. All this is found in Ephesians 1:4, "According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:" So don't let the guilt of your past make you feel worthless when God says you are without blame!

Through heaven's eyes you are also predestinated, accepted, redeemed, and forgiven. Ephesians 1: 5-7 says, "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace." Even if you feel out of place on your job or in your family, you are accepted in God's family. If you have regrets about things you have done and can't forgive yourself, God forgave you when you asked Him. God already knew every mistake you would make, but He still chose you!

Anytime that you feel discouraged about yourself, I would encourage you to read Ephesians chapter one. It will show you all the good things that God has done for you and will remind you of how He sees you.
