The Same God

Can any of us say that we have never changed? No. The human existence is a series of growth, change, and maturity. We start as an infant and grow into an adult. We learn new things and gain wisdom. God, our Creator, is the One Who does not change.

The Bible says in Malachi 3:6, "For I am the Lord, I change not..." God is an eternal being. He does not gain more wisdom as He goes. He is already omniscient and knows everything about everything! Nothing catches Him by surprise. He knows the end from the beginning. Isaiah 40:28 says, "Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable." Isaiah 46:9-11 reads, "Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all My purpose,’ calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of My counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it."

Psalm 102:26-27 says, "They will perish, but You will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like a robe You will change them, and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years have no end." God will always exist, no matter how many skeptics try to prove that He is not real.

James 1:17 reads, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with Whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." This verse is another reminder that God does not change. Many variables influence us daily, such as hunger, thirst, how many hours of sleep we got last night, etc. Sometimes these variables can change our outlook and attitudes. God is not influenced like we are. He is unchanging. Hebrews 13:8 declares, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

God's faithfulness and love also remain the same. Psalm 119:90 says, "Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You have established the earth, and it stands fast." Psalm 136:26 proclaims, "Give thanks to the God of heaven, for His steadfast love endures forever."

The same God that created the whole universe also created you. He remains the same God now that He was when the scriptures were being written down for the very first time. He is still the healer, provider, and protector that He was in the Bible days. Have faith in God's promises, because they do not change either! God does not lie (Numbers 23:19). He is faithful to His Word. Keep believing! Mark 9:23 assures us, "Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth."
