Not Forsaken

Life is not always fair. Trials come, dreams are interrupted, and things do not always go according to plan. It is especially during these trying times that faith can begin to waver. As trials stretch on and on with seemingly no end in sight, we become weary. Sometimes we even begin to wonder if God has left us. During the times that try our very souls, are we forsaken?

Psalm 37:27-29 states, "Turn away from evil and do good; so shall you dwell forever. For the Lord loves justice; He will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land and dwell upon it forever." God preserves us, even in the midst of tribulation.

Deuteronomy 31:8 declares, "And the LORD, He [it is] that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed." God is going before us, with us, and inside us. His goodness is running after us. We are surrounded on all sides by God Himself! We do not have to fear because the Lord is on our side!

When someone you love is going through a hard time, you don't turn your back on them. If you truly love them, you will do everything in your power to help them. God does the same for His children. It is written in 1 Samuel 12:22, "For the LORD will not forsake His people for His great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you His people." God is delighted that you are His child, so He's not going to leave you during the difficult times.

Sadly, not everyone has a family that will support them when times are tough. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 27:10, "When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up." The Lord is closer to you than even your own family is. You are part of His family and He cares for you always.

Paul himself reminded the believers in Hebrews 13:5, "[Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." The words that Jesus spoke cannot fail. He promised to be with us always. The words of Jesus are recorded in Matthew 28:20, "...and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Always is now and forever. He is an ever present God.

I know that we do not always sense His presence, especially when we are blinded by the circumstances around us. Nevertheless, God is always here with us. He is guiding our steps, protecting us, and giving us strength to make it through every single day.

You are NOT FORSAKEN!
