Do you know the feeling of constant shame? Do you still feel bad for things that you have already repented for? Do you live in a perpetual state of mind that you are not good enough? You may be experiencing condemnation.
According to Webster's Dictionary, condemnation is, "censure, blame, the state of being condemned." Webster defines the word condemned as, "declared to be reprehensible, wrong, or evil, pronounced guilty and sentenced to punishment, officially declared to be unfit for use."
Some condemnation is self-condemnation. When you look at yourself as worthless, defeated, and shameful, you are condemning yourself. Condemnation makes you feel guilty and can even lead to hopelessness and despair. The Bible gives you good news in these times of condemnation that you face.
Romans 8:1-2 says, "Therefore, there is now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death." If we are indeed dwelling in Christ and have surrendered to Him, we are not condemned!
We were all born into condemnation, not by our own fault, but because of the disobedience that took place in the Garden of Eden. We were born with a sinful nature. We were condemned to hell. Romans 5:18 declares, "Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people." Being justified is like you never committed sin in the first place! Thank God that Jesus died on the cross to justify us and give us eternal life!
John 3:18 says, Whoever believes in Him is NOT CONDEMNED, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." We are not condemned because we believe in Jesus Christ!
Romans 8:33-34 also offers much encouragement by saying, "Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died--more than that, who was raised to life-- is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us." God is on your side! He is justifying you--not condemning you!!!!!!
A house that is condemned can no longer be inhabited. It will rot away and collapse or it may be torn down to make way for a new house. You are the temple of the Lord. Let Him inhabit your heart so that it won't be condemned by sin. Let Him build up the broken pieces and make a house that He is pleased to dwell in.
Live in peace, beloved child of God! He has already taken care of every sin--past, present, and future! Rest in the assurance that He is not condemning you to hell. He loves you and has made a way for you to attain heaven. All you have to do is confess your sin and invite Him into your heart.
