Faith. A five-letter word that can bring about colossal changes in our lives if our faith is in God and His Word.
One of my favorite Bible verses about faith is Hebrews 11:1 in the NLT version. It reads like this, "Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see." Many times, my circumstances are not what I hoped for. In those trying times, I can hold to God's Word and remember that things I do not see presently can be on the horizon by faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7 also reminds us, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." No matter what it looks like, keep on believing the promises of God.
Did you know that we have to possess faith in order to please God? Hebrews 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him."
God even provided a way for us to have faith. The Bible says in Romans 12:3, "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." Faith also comes by hearing God's Word. Romans 10:17 tells us, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."
Jesus said, "If you can believe? All things are possible for one who believes." Faith has been connected to miracles and healings throughout the ages. In the Bible, there was a woman who had a daughter in need of healing. She besought Jesus to heal her daughter. Jesus said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire." And her daughter was healed instantly" (Matthew 15:28). There is also an account given in the Scripture where a man was unable to get into the house where Jesus was. His friends made a hole in the roof and let him down on his bed right at Jesus' feet. Jesus saw the faith of these friends and the man was healed! Our faith can even have an impact in the life of our loved ones!
Doubt will not bring about the promises of God in our lives, but faith will. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 21:22, "And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith." James warns us in chapter one verse six, "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind." We do not want to be driven about by every storm and doubt that comes along with it. We want to have an anchor of faith that will hold strong no matter what circumstance befalls us.
Our faith makes us victorious! 1 John 5:4 says, "For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith." Victory comes by believing God's Word.
It does not take a mountain of faith for results to be seen. Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20)
Do not be discouraged, dear friends. Keep walking by faith until the impossible becomes reality.
