Isn't it refreshing to call up a friend or loved one and have a heart to heart talk? Sometimes we just need someone to listen to our troubles and give us confirmation that everything will be alright. It's great to hear someone talk back to us with words of reassurance.
Sometimes when I pray, I wish that I could audibly hear God speaking back to me and answering me. Sometimes when it seems that prayers go unanswered, questions arise whether God is even listening. But, according to His Word, He is always listening!
Psalm 34:15 tells us, "The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry." Verse 17 of the same chapter says, "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles." God does not just brush off our prayers, he listens attentively. What a great thing to know that God not only hears our cries, but He delivers us!
Psalm 10:17 states, "You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; You encourage them, and You listen to their cry." God listens to us and encourages us in our trials. We should always try to encourage one another as well, because we don't always know what someone is going through.
Psalm 120:1 declares, "I call on the Lord in my distress, and He answers me." God may not audibly answer your prayers. He may give You direction and encouragement through scripture. He may use someone you know to help you and pray with you. He may work out your needs through doctors or medicine. God uses different means to answer our prayers, we just have to be sensitive to His Spirit and trust Him to answer us in the best way possible.
God always has our best interest in mind. He knows when to say "yes" and when to say "no" to our requests because he is all-knowing. He is a good Father who watches over His children in love.
Don't ever think that God is not listening to your prayers. He loves you and is working out everything for your good just like He promised in His Word!
