Throughout our lives, we enjoy a variety of "new" things and experiences. We started a new school year in our younger days. Usually, we went to open house to meet the new teacher. Eventually we graduated and started a new job. We met someone new and ended up getting married. Then came the new house. Every so often, we get a new car. Shopping for something new to wear is always fun. Traveling to new places for vacation is exciting. Our desire for new things and experiences parallels what God has done for us.
2 Corinthians 5:17 declares, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." Once we accept Christ's free gift of salvation, we are made new creatures! We are changed from the inside out to reflect Christ in our lives. We no longer desire the things that we once did, our greatest desire is changed to please our heavenly Father. Notice that this verse says, "ALL things are become new." He didn't just take care of some things, He took care of ALL things for us! Romans 6:4 says, "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." We have been raised from our dead life of sin into a new life with Christ. This is something that we get to experience each day of our lives!
It is an exciting feeling to get something new, especially something big like a house or a car. Even buying a new pair of shoes is a great feeling. Life would seem stale and boring if we always had the same old things and never got anything new. Sometimes, this is how we feel in a spiritual sense. If we just go to church, go through the motions, and then go home, what good is it really doing us? God wants us to have a fresh new walk with Him everyday. After all, He laid down His life for us, can't we show Him some love and devotion?
Our pastor has been preaching about the spirit of revival and teaching us about great revivals that happened in the past. A revival stirs up someone who is already saved, but needs a new, fresh experience with God. A revival starts with an individual, seeking a closer walk with God. Someone who really prays and longs to see God moving in His church thru His people. A personal revival will give new meaning to your life and bring you into closer fellowship with your Creator.
A new life in Christ will give you a new mindset and a new outlook on life. You are not a miserable failure--you are a child of God! Imagine how much different your life would be if you would have been born to the queen of England. You would have a totally different life and responsibilities than you currently have. Now remember that you are a child of God, and you have a new life filled with joy, mercy, and forgiveness! That is worth more than all the riches the kingdom of England has to offer!
Have a blessed day filled with God's mercies, because they are NEW every morning!
