What am I Worth?

Net worth. We've heard those words before. Some really shrewd businessmen have a net worth in the billions of dollars. Some of us only have a few dollars left in our checking accounts. Some of us are between the two extremes, living a comfortable life. If you only base your self-worth on how much money you have, you may find yourself questioning your personal value.

Looking thru the eyes of God will really change how we perceive ourselves and the value of our souls.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:26 (ESV), "Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" Clearly, God takes care of animal life; but He says that we are worth more to Him than they are. We can have a greater relationship with God than the animals can because we have a soul. We can pray, praise, and sing to our creator in a way that glorifies Him.

Psalm 139:17-18 ESV says, "How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still." Imagine how many grains of sand are on your favorite beach. God thinks about you even more than that! Wow! God is in control of everything in the whole universe, and He thinks about you! You are valuable to Him!

The greatest demonstration of our value to God was that He came down and died on the cross so that we could have eternal life in heaven with Him. People do not die for something willingly if they do not believe in it. Jesus sacrificed Himself for us, willingly! 1 Corinthians 6:20 ESV says, "For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." Romans 5:8 ESV states, "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Even when we were sinners away from Christ, he valued us so much that He paid the price for our sins. GOD HIMSELF PAID THE PRICE FOR OUR SINS! That proves how valuable we are in His eyes.

Never ever let anyone tell you that you are worthless, useless, or hopeless. You are a precious soul, purchased by God Himself. I'd say you are very valuable.
