Choose Joy (Christian Encouragement)

Are you downcast? Depressed? Can't see a way out of the trial that is facing you?

I have been in this situation myself--many times. When this happens I have two choices, I can give up or be negative, or I can find joy in the journey and keep pressing on.

Choosing joy takes work. You have to make a conscious decision that no matter what happens, you will not let it get you down. It does feel natural to think negative thoughts or have a negative attitude when things are not going according to our plans. We have to step out of our comfort zones and realize that God is in control of everything that happens in our lives.

The more negative your thoughts are, the more negative your outlook on life will be. If you are positive, your outlook on life will be better.

People like being around someone with a positive attitude because it lifts them up. Being around negative people drags you down and makes you become negative too.

Nehemiah 8:10 KJV Bible says, "...for the joy of the Lord is your strength."

When you find your joy in the Lord, it will actually strengthen you!

No matter what happens, you can have joy in knowing that God is with you. He cares for you. He loves you. He works all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). He gave you eternal life! He provides for you. He gives you peace. He is the giver of every good gift!

Even when life is incredibly hard, choose joy! It will be better for you physically and spiritually.

Don't feel guilty for having negative thoughts, it's part of being human. When you start having negative thoughts, choose an alternative. You could pray, read a scripture, sing a happy song, etc. Focus on God and His goodness. Find a way to think positively about the situation or find a positive distraction to turn your mood around.

We can't control everything that happens to us in life, but we can control our reaction or attitude towards it.

CHOOSE JOY!!!!
